I had the opportunity to work at the BGC summer program this July and August, and it was a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. Getting to work with all the different kids who came to the program as well as working alongside my amazing coworkers were some of the best parts of the job. It was a great job opportunity, but to me it was more than that although I was primarily with the Jedi group, I have met mostly all the kids from the Ewoks, Jedi and Titan group and I can say that these kids are very kind, funny, resilient and empathetic, even when having there bad days they try their best to work through the problems that they’re facing with the help of the staff and their friends. To be able to be a part of this and help them with facing those problems is so rewarding especially as someone who identifies with these kids in the problems that they face as I faced some of the same struggles as a child and teenager, As well as getting to see and be a part of all the fun they get to have and just see them get to feel safe and happy. Getting to work with the BGC staff was always fun and easy as they are very kind, reliable, empathetic and caring people not only to the kids but to everyone around them
